Q. Where’s the free money?

I wish I had a penny for every time that question has come up.  Simply stated, there is no free money.  The federal government offers several financing programs, and various interesting non-traditional lenders are located within the state. For more information, please fill out our Request for Counseling form.

Q. How soon can I get a loan?

Most lenders process loans as quickly as possible.  Some have advertised turn-around times of less than a week.  However, that’s only after all paperwork is in the format they require. Come in or call us for help with your loan package. For more information, please fill out our Request for Counseling form.

Q. Will I have to put some money down on a loan?  How much?

Lending is pretty much the same – you need to have a down payment.  You must show the ability to pay back your loan, and you need something to give to the lender in the event you fail to pay.  If your Total Project Cost is $100k, you will need to bring into the deal around $25k in cash or cash equivalent.  We can help you determine your actual cash need.  Call us for an appointment today. For more information, please fill out our Request for Counseling form.

Q. What do you think of my idea?  Will it work?

We can’t tell you what we think.  We can help you make informed decisions about your idea by guiding you through the business planning process.  It’s not ethically proper for us to offer our ideas about your project.  It’s also not fair.  You are unique, and your approach to any situation brings you into it.  By combining your uniqueness with our perspectives on your business plan, you are bound to make a good business decision. For more information, please fill out our Request for Counseling form.

Q. What accountant should I use?

We are funded by public money - federal dollars via the Small Business Administration (SBA) and state dollars through the Commission on Higher Education.  Promoting one professional’s business over another is not lawful.

Q. What attorney should I use?

We are funded by public money - federal dollars via the Small Business Administration (SBA) and state dollars through the Commission on Higher Education.  Promoting one professional’s business over another is not lawful.

Q. How should I advertise – by radio, newspaper or television?

Although we can’t recommend a particular radio station over another, we do promote target marketing.  Come in and let us help you build a marketing plan suited to your specific situation. For more information, please fill out our Request for Counseling form.

Q. How will I know if my advertising is working?

The short answer is that if you are profitable, your marketing plan is probably working!  To maintain long-term profitability, you need to analyze your target market and make every effort to reach them with as many impressions as possible.  Let us work with your staff to build a winning marketing plan. For more information, please fill out our Request for Counseling form.

Q. I stay really busy at work - lots of customers.  Where does all the money go?

Many small businesses don’t have adequate cash control.  We have more than 25 years of combined experience in small business assistance and expensive financial analysis tools to boot.  Trust us to help you find the “leaks” in your financial boat.  Maybe you should be eating steak instead of beans. For more information, please fill out our Request for Counseling form.

Q. When can I start keeping some of the money I make?

Once you find the money “leaks” in your operation and fix those leaks, you can start seeing a positive cash flow.  Only then will you be able to take a profit. For more information, please fill out our Request for Counseling form.

Q. Why don’t customers like the merchandise I have?

Purchasing the wrong merchandise comes from not knowing the needs and/or wants of your customers.  For quick inventory turnaround, you must purchase what your customers will by.  This only comes by analyzing your target market.  Let us help you with market planning. For more information, please fill out our Request for Counseling form.

Q. Being in business for myself isn’t as easy as I thought.  Who can I talk to and where can I turn for help?

Boy, you’ve got that right.  A get-rich-quick scheme this self-employment isn’t.  Our free counseling (by staff with more than 25 years of business assistance experience) can help you make the informed business decisions necessary in the 21st Century.  Make your first appointment with us today!
